Energy Consultant - Home Energy Rater (HERS)

A Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Score is an energy analysis of a home in conjunction with onsite inspections and documentation for verification of the built environment.
Home Energy Raters use an energy efficiency software package to perform an energy analysis of a home’s design. This analysis yields a projected, pre-construction HERS Index.
Upon completion of the plan review, the rater will collaborate with the builder to identify potential improvements in energy efficiency. In addition, the candidate will conduct onsite inspections, including:
– Built environment measurements including photographic documentation
– Blower door testing to test the air tightness of the house
– HVAC duct test to test the ductwork installation
– Mechanical ventilation testing of bath fans and Energy Recovery/Heat recovery ventilators.
Results of these tests, along with inputs derived from the plan review, are used to generate the HERS Index score for the home
