Island Rubbish is currently seeking Waste Collectors to join our team. This position is full-time, year-round, with a 40hr work week. Please apply before February 11th, 2023.
The Waste Collector’s primary responsibilities will be to collect waste along designated routes, emptying refuge receptacles into the truck they are driving. As requested, you will also be responsible for dropping off and picking up roll-off containers. You will be responsible for the management of your truck, ensuring proper tie-downs and daily reporting on truck maintenance needed. No CDL “B” license is required.

Experience within the field
Experience driving incredibly large vehicles/garbage and recycling trucks in all weather (will train the right candidate)
Have experience operating a roll-off truck (preferred but not required, will train the right candidate.)
Requirements
Must pass a criminal background and drug screening
Must be physically able to drive vehicles used on the job safely
Must be able to lift heavy objects over 50 lbs.
Duties:
Inspects trucks before beginning routes to ensure safe operating conditions.
Properly secures the truck and its contents before and during the vehicle’s operation.
Refuels trucks and adds other necessary fluids, such as oil.
Fill out any needed reports for defective equipment.
Drives trucks along established routes through residential streets, alleys, or business and industrial areas.
